Active play, exploration and motion are increasingly understood to enhance engagement, alertness, and comprehension.
The Village Library centres these ideas in creating imaginative reading environments that expand far beyond the book, and can be appreciated through play and in the engagement of multiple senses. 
Passive activities like browsing and returning are viewed as opportunities for fun interactions, and varied types of seating furniture and spaces—catering to diverse reading personalities—allow children to get lost in the world of books.
